On Monday, April 21, 2025, Congresswoman Veronica Escobar, a third-generation El Pasoan, proudly representing Texas' 16th Congressional District, visited the Links to Freedom (L2F) Program conducted at Butterfield Trail Golf Club on behalf of Fort Bliss Army Base and William Beaumont Medical Center Soldier Recovery Unit (SRU) in El Paso, Texas.

Congresswoman Escobar spoke on the importance of supporting our wounded, ill and injured Service Members and their families and caregivers as well as our Gold Star families. The ability to use golf as a healing method for injuries that include physical, mental, emotional and even social was the theme of the visit and what L2F is devoted to providing.

Links to Freedom's Southwest Director, Mike Whittler, PGA also spoke of the work being performed at our Program in El Paso and throughout the U.S. at other military installations that have recovery and rehabilitative Units for our Service Members. In addition to Fort Bliss, L2F has active Programs at Fort Belvoir, Virginia, Fort Bragg, North Caroline, Fort Sam Houston in San Antonio, Texas and the WWR San Diego at Miramar in California. L2F also collaborates at additional locations such as Andrews Air Force Base and others in Baltimore. Once funding is obtained, Programs at additional locations will be implemented.

Congresswoman Escobar was extremely gracious and presented each of our L2F Members with a certificate during her visit. The L2F Program for Spring is in full-swing at Butterfield Trail and we are excited for the continued growth and provision of this amazing Program here in Texas and across the United States.
